Boys U12 A: We were treated to a great game of football in Kileen on Sunday evening last when John Mitchells came to play the first game in Phase 2 of the Co League. In a breezy Kileen the visitors got off to a flying start playing some great football against a stiff breeze to go 5 points clear after 5 minutes. We began to play some good football when we settled down and ended the half 1-7 to 1-2 ahead. Going into the second half against the breeze we thought we would be in some difficulty but we raised our game and helped by goals from Liam Rice and Tomas O Hanafin we won a very gruelling encounter after 7 minutes extra time the final score 4-9 to 2-9.Mitchells never gave up and our boys can be proud for holding out for a win in very difficult conditions.Cian Devine pulled off some magnificent saves and Seamus Harty gave a man of the match performance inspired by a great captain Jach Sheahan.Adam Burke scored some magnificent scores. U12 Na Gaeil vs Killarney Legion B: Our B team played Legion in the final game of the county league phase one on Tuesday night in Killeen knowing that a win would leave them top of their group. We got off to a nervous start in front of a large home support, clocking up a lot of wides but still managing to go 1-1 up after 10 minutes. The rest of the half saw each team more or less trading scores and half time arrived with Na Gaeil leading by six points in what was an open and fast moving second quarter. As expected, Legion came roaring back in the early stages of the second half, committing many players forward, closing the gap to two points and testing our midfield and defence to their limits. Na Gaeil responded well and hit a purple patch in the final ten minutes, scoring some crucial well taken scores, mainly on the break, with our defenders holding out well in the face of some intense Legion pressure. We held out in the end for a nine point win, which didn’t reflect the closeness of the game with Legion threatening every time they got possession and looking capable of closing the gap. A lot of Na Gaeil players showed well on the night with good performances from all our defenders. Richard Mc Carthy and Cian Devine played themselves to a standstill in midfield while our captain Jonathon Mc Carthy covered every blade of grass supporting defence and attack. The impact of our substitutes was also significant on the night with some important scores being contributed. Man of the match was the ever consistent Jimi O’Sullivan, leading his backs with his usual high level of commitment and skill. Well done to the whole squad on the completion of a fabulous campaign. All at Na Gaeil are very proud of ye.

U12 Na Gaeil B vs Mitchels B: Our u-12 b team continued their unbeaten run in good conditions against a skilful Mitchels outfit in Killeen on Sunday night. There were many good performances on the evening, the highlight of which was a Bomber Liston-like fisted goal high above a crowded defence by our man of the match Shane Daly. There were also good performances by new players Jim Cadogan and Chris Nolan with Jimi O’Sullivan proving a revelation when moved into goal with a couple of top drawer stops. Our large squad on the night was also an important factor, allowing continuous fresh legs on the field of play.

The players were divided into 2 teams and each team played 3 matches against teams from Kerins O'Rahillys, John Mitchels and Austin Stacks. It was a very enjoyable experience for all our players and they are already looking forward to the next blitz (date & venue to be confirmed).
