Scór

The final journey for our very talented Ballad Group, ended last Saturday when they did their club, county and province proud with an outstanding performance at the All Ireland Final of Scór na nÓg in Athlone, Eoghain Sheehy, Hilary White, Amy Stone, Clodagh Foley and Anna Hayes wowed the judges and audience with their breathtaking renditions of The West’s Awake, and Home Away From Home, much to the delight of the huge band of Na Gaeil and Kerry supporters in the packed John McCormack auditorium. However, stiff opposition from Leinster, saw the Moate Ballad Group from Westmeath declared winners by the narrowest of margins. Despite being disappointed at not clinching the elusive All Ireland trophy, our lads were so happy with their performance and were showered with compliments from all walks of the Scór contingency that enjoyed a most entertaining afternoon of song, music and dance from all corners of the country. Of course, none of this would be possible without mentor supreme, Tracey Foley whose expertise and dedication with the group, throughout their Scór campaign which started back in September, brought them to the highest level of competition in the country. It was a very long journey back to Tralee for our 30 strong band of supporters who travelled up to support their singing stars, but bus driver and entertainer John Murrihy had a repertoire of songs and stories that lifted our spirits, and with renditions from the multi talented adults and children on board, it shortened the long road to Na Gaeil!! A big welcome awaited everyone in the clubhouse and it was a fitting end to a very successful Scór journey for these fabulous group. Eoghain, Hilary, Amy, Anna, and Clodagh would like to thank Chairperson James Crean, Club PRO, Treasurer Cathy Carey, and Na Gaeil Committee for their acknowledgement, support and generous sponsorship to them throughout this competition and in particular for the All Ireland Final on Saturday. Also a big Thank You to Sean and Johnny at the Club for all their support throughout the Scór season (not to mention the endless cups of coffees to the mothers all!!) and the great receptions afforded them after each competition. It has been so appreciated by all involved. Hearty congratulations to Brian Murphy, recitation, and the Glenflesk figure dancers who brought victories to Kerry. Long live Scór!!
