Na Gaeil 1-05
Churchill 1-14
In round four of the County League we saw Na Gaeil taking on Churchill, away. Churchill who, having won the toss, opted to play against the breeze in the first half were first to get off the mark, doubling their score five minutes into the game. Na Gaeil’s first chance came from a penalty after Seamie O'Neill was taken down in the box. However Dermot Flaherty was unfortunate to be denied by a fine save from the Churchill keeper. Na Gaeil opening score came from Paul Daly who goaled after being set up by Seamie O'Neill with ten minutes on the clock. Na Gaeil kept in touch with Churchill with scores from Paul Daly and two fine scores from Mike Griffin, leaving it all square at half time. Na Gaeil 1 - 03, Churchill 0 - 06. The second half began with both sides trading scores, Na Gaeil’s coming through a pointed effort from Paul Daly. The game, as a contest, was over mid way through the second half when Churchill racked up 1 - 04 in a five-minute spell and had it not been for some fine saves from Tim Cotter the story would have been a lot worse. Na Gaeil’s only other score in the second half came from a pointed free from Mike Griffin. Churchill ran out deserving winners on a score line of 1 - 14 to Na Gaeil’s 1 - 05. Panel: Tim Cotter, David Ross, Ritchie Barrett, Eoin Doody, Colm Lyons, Niall Lucey, David Culloty, Declan Doody, Mike Griffin, Eamonn O'Neill, Donal Rooney, Seamie O'Neill, Dermot Flaherty, Paul Daly, Dan O'Connor, Jamie Lowham, Dan Lucey, Kieran Dineen.
