Na Gaeil 1-12
Renard 0-15
Our Novice championship against Renard will have to be replayed at a date to be decided as the game last week end ended in a draw Na Gaeil 1 – 12 to 0 – 15. This was a most enthralling game with very little ever separating the sides over the four periods played. Dermot Flaherty opened the scoring for us with a fine point followed by a point from centre field man, Declan Doody. Renard responded with five unanswered points over the next ten minutes, three from frees two from play. With Declan Doody and David Culloty beginning to impose them around the centre a better supply was going in to our forwards, which Paul Daly availed of and scored a fine goal after seventeen minutes. Our backs contained the Renard front players to two further points for the half while Michael Griffin and Paul Daly added points for Na Gaeil, leaving the score at half time 1 – 04 to 0 – 07. The second period was dominated by the backs on both sides. Colm Lyons, Niall Lucey and Richard Barrett being prominent for Na Gaeil. Na Gaeil scored four points from Eamonn O’Neill 3(1f) and Michael Griffin 1. Renard had three from dead balls including one 45 and one from play in injury time which sent the game to extra time. Na Gaeil were one point up after the first period our scores coming from play per David Culloty and Dan O’Connor 1 – 10 to 0 – 12. The final period was a ding-dong affair with Shamie O’Neill from play and Paul Daly, a free scoring for us. Deep into time Brendan Casey, the Renard full back came up for a 45 and punched the equalising point, much to the delight of the visiting supporters. The next round, the fifth, of the County League is, at home, against Fossa this Sunday 31st at 2 30pm. Training Tuesday and Friday at 7 30p.
