Na Gaeil 00-11
St. Pats 00-14
Round two of the St.Brendan’s League saw Na Gaeil take on St Pats at home in ideal playing conditions. Dermot Flaherty opened Na Gaeil’s account with a thirteen yard free won by Diarmuid Herlihy. The first half was a close affair with both sides trading points, with some fine scores by the home side, especially Rob Murphy who, having won the kick out on his own half back line, made a terrific run up the wing finishing what he had started on the 21 yard line. Other scores to note was that of Declan Doody who, having received a quick sideline ball, cut in field and with defenders in pursuit, knocked it over the bar. Pats started the second half the brighter increasing their lead to five points and seemed to be well in control. A few positional changes and the introduction of two subs gave the home side the vital boost they needed. Ten minutes into the second half Na Gaeil finally got off the mark, when a high ball into the forwards saw Dermot Flaherty catching and turning his man, and with him bearing down on goal, his resulting shot, with the keeper beaten, was just over the bar. Na Gael battled hard but at having reduced the difference to two points were unlucky to see a fine effort on goal by Diarmuid Herlihy come crashing off the cross bar with the follow up by Dermot Flaherty resulting in a point, his fourth from play in the second half. St Pats came out on top with a score line of Na Gaeil 0 - 11; St Pats 0 - 14.
