Na Gaeil 2-08
Mitchels 1-05

In the third round of the St. Brendan's League, Na Gaeil took on John Mitchel’s away from home. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half, Na Gaeil battled hard to keep the Mitchel’s attack at bay. Our cause wasn’t aided when we were unlucky to give an early penalty. Na Gaeil finally got off the mark twenty minutes into the first half courtesy of a Tadhg O'Neill free. This was quickly followed up with points from Diarmuid Herlihy and Dermot Flaherty. Na Gaeil went into the break trailing by five points1 - 05 to 0 – 03. This gap could have been a lot closer except for a fine save by the Mitchel’s keeper from a Dermot Flaherty shot to the corner, also coming close was Declan Doody who after a fifty yard run shot just to the right and wide. Na Gaeil got off to an ideal start in the second half with the wind at their backs, when David White delivered an inch perfect ball into the arms of Diarmuid Herlihy, who quickly laid it off to Mike Griffin at the edge of the square who found the back of the net. The game was on level scores with quick points from Dylan Seymour and Dermot Flaherty. The lead for Na Gaeil came through a penalty, awarded when Diarmuid Herlihy was adjudged to have been taken down and which was converted by Dermot Flaherty. Again there was an immense display by Na Gaeil defence keeping the Mitchel’s forwards scoreless for the second half leaving it at full time Mitchel’s 1-05 Na Gaeil 2-08. Panel: Mike Barrett, Eoin Doody, Dylan Brazil, David Ross, Eoin Lucey, Kieran Dineen, Evan Crean, Declan Doody, Rob Murphy, David White, Mike Griffin, Dylan Seymour, Tadhg O’Neill, Dermot Flaherty
