Na Gaeil 1-06
Brosna 09

On Saturday night last Na Gaeil took on the much-fancied Brosna side, away, in ideal playing conditions. The first half was a close affair with both sides trading scores to leave it level at five points apiece at half time. Colm Lyons as captain led by example and had an excellent first half at centre half back, inspiring all those around him. Mike Griffin opened up Na Gaeil’s account with an excellent score from distance after exchanging a quick one two with Dylan Seymour. Also on the score board for Na Gaeil in the first half were Rob Murphy who having won the ball in midfield finished in style after fine solo run, Eamonn O'Neill scored two while Diarmuid Herlihy who had a fine game in corner forward scored the fifth. Na Gaeil got off to a flying start in the second half, when Dylan Seymour who, having been fouled out in the wing, took the free quickly sending ball into Diarmuid Herlihy who in turn laid it off to the on running Niall Lucey who was taken down in the box. Dermot Flaherty converted the resulting penalty, giving the Brosna keeper no chance. This good start was quickly followed up by a converted free by Eamonn O'Neill after David Culloty was fouled. Na Gaeil failed to capitalise on this and although they enjoyed the majority of possession they failed to score for the next twenty five minutes. Dan O'Connor who was standing between the posts was superb, plucking three would be points from over the bar. The game finished level, Na Gaeil 1 - 06 Brosna 0 - 09.
